Summertime is by far my favorite season. Bring on the heat and humidity, as long as I get to enjoy flip flops, fireworks, and family vacations I’m good. Nothing looks or feels better than sandy toes, sun-kissed skin and salty beach hair, nothing. As students return to school and summer sales make room for fall fashions in stores, I feel like it’s an appropriate time to post about my must have beauty products of this summer.

Chanel Rouge Allure and Rouge Coco Lipsticks ($37) have my heart. Not only is the packaging chic and elegant, but the formulas of both lines are what lipstick dreams are made of. My favorite nude lipstick at the moment is Rouge Coco Adrienne #402. It’s the perfect balance between peach, pink and brown that creates the ultimate summer lip. Usually, I top it off with a Chanel glossimer like Mica #131 or Wild Rose #119. New addition to the family is the coral shade, Romy #460. This bright warm, reddish color is stunning on all skin tones. Since the formula is a bit more creamy, you don’t get so much pigment that it looks harsh. My favorite pink shade of the season is Rouge Allure Craquante #146, a soft hydrating color that gives lips a natural just bitten effect. Love.

House of Lashes and Disney Tinkerbell false lashes in the style ‘Just Wing It’ ($15). In recent months I fell in love with the House of Lashes ‘Heart Breaker’ eyelashes and honestly thought that I had met my match. There was no need to shop for different styles because I already knew what I wanted to wear for special occasions. That is, in fact, until they launched their masterful collaboration with Disney. The Tinkerbell collection has three styles: ‘Just Wing It’ is a full and dramatic lash, ‘Neverland’ is a much more natural lash with a lighter lash band and ‘Forever Tink’ in a medium density multi-dimensional style. These beautiful lashes are perfect for adding drama and beauty to your makeup look. What’s more, they make you feel like a Disney princess… there’s really nothing else you could ask for. Perfection!

Chanel Les Beiges Foundation ($60) has been a summertime fine staple in my makeup bag. This foundation is a creamy yet light-weight, medium coverage formula with SPF 15 and kolanchoe extract. It gives the perfect amount of coverage to create a “flawless face” without being too heavy for summer. I recommend using a brush like the duo fiber #7 liquid foundation brush from Chanel to apply it and I always mix in Soleil Tan de Chanel ‘Sunkissed’ liquid illuminator. This will probably be my go-to through Fall as well because the natural matte finish is perfect for my combination skin and can deal with a little heat and humidity.

Mercier’s Face Illuminator in Devotion ($44) is why self-proclaimed makeup addicts, like myself, will never get the help they need. Highlighters are my personal kryptonite. I’m about two or three purchases away from full on hoarder status, but the great thing about hoarding highlighters is it’s socially acceptable to the point of verging on becoming an Olympic sport. So you own a lot of highlighters… Who cares? In fact, good for you! Laura Mercier’s latest creation is no exception. From the moment it arrived to the beauty counter at Nordstrom it was already added to my stash. This little gem is absolutely stunning on the skin and it’s opalescent color makes it unique enough to feel justified. No regrets.

Tom Ford Soleil Blanc shimmering body oil, Patchology face masks, Chanel Hydra Beauty Essence Mist and UV Essential SPF 50 round out my top ten list. The Tom Ford body oil ($98) isn’t what I’d consider a summer necessity, but it’s a summer luxury that I’m so glad I indulged in… It’s pure glam in a bottle. The scent is a beautiful private island inspired blend of bergamot, cardamom, pistachio, ylang ylang and coco de mer accord. The oil absorbs effortlessly into the skin, leaving you with a dazzling shimmer and unexpected, sultry aroma. I like to use it on my chest and decollete area as well as legs. It’s very hydrating so don’t use a lot of body lotion before you apply. The Patchology face masks ($30) were a particularly fun find for me. I can’t get enough. They are very easy to use and they feel amazing on the face. I started with the exfoliating mask, but recently fell in love with the detoxifying mud mask. You simply apply the pre-soaked, individually wrapped mask to your clean skin, let it sit for a few minutes and then remove and discard. I’ve been on once a week schedule and my skin has never felt better.
The Hydra Beauty Essence Mist ($90) is another luxurious splurge that I justify because of the skin care benefits. The mist can be used to set makeup or as a quick hydrating pick me up. It’s great for travel and smells like heaven on earth. It contains Vitamins C and E, Camellia, Blue Ginger and Hyaluronic Acid to plump the skin. The UV Essential SPF 50 is just that, essential. Wearing sunscreen on your face should be part of your daily routine and this sunscreen is so lightweight and packs a punch of SPF 50. The bottle is easy for travel unlike giant messy bottles of sunscreen that usually contain an overpowering scent of coconut. The UV Essential also contains tiare flower, which helps the skin to protect itself from the elements. It will keep you looking beautiful not just this summer, but for summers to come years down the road.
